           Watch Video

There are multiple pathways (download PowerPoint illustration) to reach the required thresholds to achieve demonstrated teacher excellence and earn Teacher Performance Incentive awards:

Student Success (35%)
Teacher Leadership High-Needs Schools
Effective Instruction (35%)
(20%)
 (10%)
  • Based on summative evaluation rating according to TEAM framework.

  • Includes a quantitative student academic measure (35%) and a qualitative assessment of instructional practice based on classroom observation (35%).
  • Teachers will be evaluated based on quality and impact of role.

  • Value and priority will be given for additional duties that support learning (student growth), instructional practice (professional development), and/or whole-child development.
  • Takes into account the percent of free/reduced lunch and years of continuous service at that school.

  • Seeks to recognize effective teaching in high-needs schools, with an emphasis on teacher stability.

A teacher who achieves the status of “model performance” will earn the $1,500 incentive, and a teacher who achieves the status of “exemplary performance” will earn the $2,000 incentive.

The payout will be an annual award granted each year that the teacher meets the criteria for the performance incentive.

In addition to implementing the APEX strategic compensation system, KCS will continue to support teachers through instructional coaching and high-quality professional development to ensure all teachers gain the necessary skills and competencies to provide effective instruction in accordance with Tennessee’s higher academic standards.
