All four objectives for APEX are integral to the success of KCS’ strategic plan goals and vision:

To become a district in which all students achieve at high levels and every school is a school of distinction.

APEX reflects the belief that our compensation system should be aligned to our most important instructional goals and that we must continue to focus on increased student learning through effective classroom teaching.
Teacher Leadership exemplified by
Lead Teacher role
  • Introducing new formal teacher leadership role - Lead Teacher - to provide career opporunities outside of administration in all schools across district.

  • Core compentencies include demonstrated teacher effectiveness and leadership abilities.

  • Lead teachers will earn a supplement to their base salary ($2,000 or $2,500), complete TEAM evaluation training and receive training stipend.

  • Informal teacher leadership also recognized in Teacher Performance Incentive - supporter, planner, promoter, sustainer designation based on well-defined rubric.
