All four objectives for APEX are integral to the success of KCS’ strategic plan goals and vision:

To become a district in which all students achieve at high levels and every school is a school of distinction.

APEX reflects the belief that our compensation system should be aligned to our most important instructional goals and that we must continue to focus on increased student learning through effective classroom teaching.

School Excellence Awards to reward school-wide growth
  • The highest-rated schools at each level (five elementary, three middle, and three high) will receive a School Excellence Award.
  • Ratings will be determined based on school-wide growth and/or the percent of students achieving expected growth in each subject area.
  • Schools must also achieve Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) to earn this award.
  • Recipients will use the monies to purchase equipment and/or provide professional development or other educational improvement efforts.
  • School Excellence Awards range from $5,000 to $10,000 during one calendar school year. School Excellence Award eligibility is open to all schools, including TAP schools.
